On World Day Against Child Labor rites, DOLE vows firm resolve to make barangays child labor-free
MANILA, Philippines — There are 3 million child laborers toiling in the Philippines and almost all of them are working in hazardous conditions, according to a survey financed by the International Labor Organization (ILO).
The Federation of Free Workers (FFW) is alarmed by the increase in child labor incidence in the Philippines.
In a bid to underscore the urgency of the goal of a child labor-free Philippines, the DOLE Regional Office No. 9 last week chose to launch its regional Campaign for Child Labor-Free Barangays at Brgy. Lumbangan, the City of Zamboanga's dumpsite.
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, June 22 (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office 10, along with partner-agencies and stakeholders in the sugar industry, celebrated the World Day Against Child Labor recently in Butong, Quezon, in the province of Bukidnon.

Barangay Antipolo, in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, 62 kilometers south of Bacolod City, has been known as a hub of child laborers. The need to augment family income force children in the barangay to skip school and to work perilously long hours alongside their parents in sugarcane plantations.
Several regional offices of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported today various awareness raising and advocacy activities in celebration of the World Day Against Child Labor.
In their report to Acting Secretary Lourdes M. Trasmonte, DOLE RO Directors Alan Macaraya (National Capital Region), Henry John Jalbuena (Cordillera Administrative Region) , Grace Ursua (Region I), Raymundo Agravante (Region III), and Ponciano Ligutom (Region 6) confirmed that several advocacy campaigns have been lined up the entire month of June.
“Batang Malaya: Child Labor-Free Philippines”. This is the message being conveyed as the country celebrates World Day Against Child Labor (WDACL) which coincides with the nation’s Independence Day.
Bacolod City --- “If we cannot give these children a chance of a good life today, how can we do it in the next generation?” Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda D.
