QPO CELEBRATES WDACL 2015: AWARDS SCHOLARSHIP AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO CHILDREN AT-RISK OF CHILD LABOR

The Department of Labor and Employment Quezon Provincial Office celebrated the World Day Against Child Labor 2015 with the theme “NO TO CHILD LABOR – YES TO QUALITY EDUCATION” in simple ceremony held at its Conference Room located at Grand Central Terminal, Bgy. Ilayang Dupay, Lucena City on June 10, 2015. The event was participated by the member agencies of the Provincial Child Labor Committee and the Lucena City Child Labor Committee.

Highlighting the event was the signing of the commitment of support by selected private establishments to Quezon Project Angel Tree and the awarding of scholarship grants and school supplies to children identified to be at-risk of child labor from the pilot areas of Barangays Tala and Camflora in San Andres and Barangays Vigo Central and Villa Reyes in San Narciso.

Six outstanding college freshmen were among the recipients of scholarship grant from Team Energy Corporation, Quezon Poultry and Livestock Corporation and Team Energy’s HR Supervisor Myra Nicolas. The lucky beneficiaries are Jasmin Junio, Jerick Bulan Banquiles, Argelle Bohol Rivera, Jevy Rana, April Nicole Siguan and Revelyn Daprosa.

Board Member Alona Obispo who happens to be one of the private donor awarded P1,000 each to the two college freshmen who were present during the awarding ceremony. In addition, Team Energy also turned over fifty eight (58) school supplies for the rest of the elementary and high school students also identified at-risk of child labor. Pacific Mall Lucena was also one of the private donors represented in the activity who expressed support to the objectives of Quezon Project Angel Tree.

The selection of children beneficiaries were done with the assistance of the office of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in the province of Quezon.
