LLCOs Undergo Training on Child Labor Assessment Skills

A Training of Labor Laws Compliance Officers on Child Labor Assessment Skills was held on 22-26 February 2016 at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel. The training, organized by the Bureau of Working Conditions and the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns with support from the International Labour Organization, was attended by 35 LLCOs and Child Labor Focal Persons from the 16 DOLE Regional Offices.

A Training of Labor Laws Compliance Officers on Child Labor Assessment Skills was held on 22-26 February 2016 at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel. The training, organized by the Bureau of Working Conditions and the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns with support from the International Labour Organization, was attended by 35 LLCOs and Child Labor Focal Persons from the 16 DOLE Regional Offices. Representatives from the Federation of Free Workers, Trade Union Congress of the Philippines, Employers Confederation of the Philippines and Institute for Labor Studies also participated in the training. Mr. Sivanantharam Alagandram, ILO Consultant from Geneva, served as the main resource person during the training.

The training aimed to enhance the capacity of DOLE personnel in detecting and assessing child labor incidents. The concept of child labor, effective approaches to address child labor, competencies necessary in undertaking assessment, and the challenges facing LLCOs were among the topics discussed during the training.
