Fair enough, big blessings come in small packages. From a small supply kit composed of a notebook, crayon, pencil, sharpener, pad paper, and plastic envelope, students with disability in the City of Biñan ended up getting extra supplies not to mention their very own school bags. It’s the best back-to-school set of gifts for differently abled students.
PD Milagros R. Mata of DOLE IV-A Laguna Provincial Office tapped the Laguna Labor Management Council, Inc. (LLMCi) in reaching out to physically-challenged yet exceptional students in the said city. In her heart, she believes that these children deserve educational assistance to motivate them even more. That is why she responded to the appeal of PWD Coordinator Ms. Jhenelyn Medina for school supplies.
On 16 May 2016, the LLMCi coupled by the generosity of PD Mata distributed 75 envelopes each containing a notebook, crayon, pencil, sharpener and pad paper. While the PWD Coordinator was more than grateful for the blessings to be shared by the student-recipients, she further mentioned the need for the provision of additional supplies.
The LLMCi with the help of its mother Council, the Regional Tripartite Industrial and Peace Council IV-A, Inc., managed to multiply the blessings extended to PWD students in Biñan. With their cash donation, each recipient got seven additional notebooks plus extra crayon, sharpener, pad paper and plastic envelope.
It was on 4 June 2016 when PD Mata along with RTIPC IV-A, Inc. focal Lunitha Ramiro distributed 525 notebooks, 75 pad papers, 75 pencils, 75 sharpeners, 75 crayons and 75 brown envelopes to PWD students at the chapel in Brgy. San Jose, Biñan City, Laguna.
Something’s lacking to complete the gift set so LLMCi once again shelled out some funds plus donations from DOLE Laguna employees to secure 75 school bags. All this is for the benefit of admirable students making the most of their abilities to get basic education despite some physical challenges. After all, kindness and charity can surely boost their leverage in getting a diploma.
Neither grandiose nor ceremonial but the simple turnover of school bags by PD Mata at the house of the PWD Coordinator was nonetheless meaningful knowing that they will end up not only in good hands but hardworking ones.
