DOLE CAVITE CONDUCTS PROFILING OF VULNERABLE WORKERS

The DOLE Cavite Provincial Office (CPO) conducted an advocacy campaign on Republic Act 9231 (RA 9231) and orientation on DOLE’s livelihood program for child labor-free barangay to the local officials, community leaders, parents, representatives of Senior Citizens and barangay health workers of Barangay Maitim I, Amadeo, Cavite on 16 September 2015.

The orientation covered the salient features of RA 9231 to support the campaign against child labor and to come up with a barangay ordinance or resolution that protects children. Ms. Karmela Mandrique, Labor and Employment Officer III, discussed RA 9231 and child labor-free barangay and Mr. Ricky Martin V. Velasco, Senior Labor and Employment Officer, discussed the DOLEs Livelihood Program.

DOLE CPO upholds its commitment to International Labor Organization (ILO) to give due attention and to come up with interventions, appropriate programs and policy and legislation to protect the vulnerable workers. The profiling activity is being undertaken relative to the implementation of the Convergence Program for the vulnerable workers specifically those who are in the informal sector, child laborers and farm workers.

DOLE CPO staffs conducted household profiling from September 16-18, 2015 at Barangay Maitim I, Amadeo, Cavite. The result of the profiling will serve as basis in determining appropriate interventions to address their needs.
