The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. IVA in close collaboration with DOLE Laguna and its program partners against child labor held an advocacy walk and a program to confirm the support of various local program partners in Multi-Purpose Gym, Pila, Laguna on June 12, 2016 to increase awareness on the problem of child labor.
The international observance which coincides with the 118th Independence Day of the Republic of the Philippines focus on ending the child labor in supply chains to solicit commitment of governments, workers’ and employer’s organization and entreprises to eliminate child labor.
Various regional government and local government agencies supported the activity such as the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Information Agency (PIA) IVA, Department of Education (DepEd) Laguna, DepEd Pila, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Laguna, Public Employment and Service Office (PESO) Pila, LGU Pila and Barangay Concepcion Officers and Staff.
It was also supported by various program partners in the private sector such as MS Components Assembly, Inc., Essilor-Optodev, Inc., Antonina Industrial Corporation, Belton Totoku Philippines, Inc., D’ Emerging Manpower Depot and Consultancy, Inc., Hearty Beverage Options, Inc., Joyful Journey Shuttle Service, Inc., Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation, Motorcentral Sales, Corp., Nikkoshi Philippines Corporation, NYK TDG Maritime Academy, Holistic Approach Systems, Inc., Powerlane Resources, Inc., RFM Corporation, Roman Manpower Services, San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation – Rightpak Plant, San Miguel Corporation, Testech, Inc., TRP Inc., Vantage Resources Ltd and WR Grace (Philis), Inc.
The highlight of the activity was the awarding of scholarship grants to ten (10) deserving students who were assessed by EMS Components Assembly Inc and Belton Totoku Philippines and distribution of educational bags and supplies from the sponsor-private companies.
