A Training of Labor Laws Compliance Officers on Child Labor Assessment Skills was held on 22-26 February 2016 at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel. The training, organized by the Bureau of Working Conditions and the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns with support from the International Labour Organization, was attended by 35 LLCOs and Child Labor Focal Persons from the 16 DOLE Regional Offices.

Two barangays in Zamboanga Sibugay were declared by DOLE Region 09 as Child Labor-Free Barangays last December 21-22, 2015. The recipients of the certification were Barangay Butong, in Diplahan and Barangay Siloh, in Siay. The simple awarding ceremony was led by the Field Office Head of DOLE Sibugay, Supervising LEO Elamsalih E. Ungad together with the Regional Child Labor Program Focal Mrs. Pilar T. Salazar which was held in the respective barangay hall of the aforementioned.

DOLE Cavite celebrated its 8th year of implementation of Project Angel Tree in the province. The program is a manifestation of the joint efforts between government and the private sector in keeping children away from dangerous workplaces. Strong public-private partnership can ensure an effective progress in the elimination of child labor in the province of Cavite. The program had gone too far, partners from private companies had gift in their hearts that keeps on giving to these children for eight fruitful years.

Cagayan de Oro City --- Ten private establishments in the Region were awarded by the Department of Labor and Employment–X’s (DOLE-X) the Tripartite Certificate of Compliance with Labor Standards (TCCLS) and six companies bestowed the Child Labor-Free Certificate during the DOLE’s 82nd Anniversary held on 4 December 2015 at the Marvilla Beach Resort, Opol, Misamis Oriental, with the theme, “82 Taon ng Mahusay na Serbisyo sa Manggagawang Pilipino.”

A gift-giving event was held in Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay for the benefit of the child laborers in Barangay Siloh. This time DOLE has partnered with DepEd Sibugay and Marian College of Ipil to distribute new school supplies and new slippers to the 89 child laborers and 109 pupils of Siloh Elementary School. Marian College - a local college in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay was able to gather more than 200 sets of school supplies from its generous benefactors in Manila and brought it to the children in Siloh.
As a convergence initiative, the DOLE and Zamboanga City Federation of Family Welfare Committee (ZCFFWC) celebrates “PASCUA na AGOSTO na TERCERO AÑO” on August 28, 2015 at Barangay Talon-Talon, this city. It was highlighted by the turn-over of educational assistance to forty two (42) children at risk of becoming child laborers and awarding of livelihood starter kits to parents, feeding and gift-giving. The activity gives emphasis on the transformation of the identified barangay into a child-labor free community.
