A Summit of Councils and Committees Towards A Child Friendly Philippines

More often than not, children are the most susceptible to different forms of abuse. In order to protect children as victims of exploitative acts, some laws are passed which not only provide special protection measures for children but also created its respective inter-agency council or committees.

Calling the inter-agency bodies in one Summit to attain holistic and an integrated system of coordination and collaboration, agree on the elements of a child protection policy and debate on and adopt the elements of a Child Friendly Philippines is a significant move to create a Caring and Protective Society for Children.

The 2nd National Summit on Children with the theme “Working Together for a Child Friendly Philippines” will be conducted on July 12 to 13, 2012 at The Bayleaf, Intramuros, Manila. This Summit will be spearheaded by the Council for the Welfare of Children with the leadership of Executive Director Brenda S. Vigo and around 120 participants are expected to join the said activity. This initiative will be supported by the CWC Chairperson and DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano Soliman.

One of the primary objectives of the Summit forum is to come up with policy pronouncements and commitments from key government agencies and stakeholders.
