A LEGACY TO ALL FILIPINO CHILDREN: CREATING A CHILD-FRIENDLY MUNICIPALITIES AND CITIES

“Placing children at the center of development is the main goal of the Search for Child Friendly Municipalities and Cities”, says Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) Executive Director Brenda S. Vigo.

The conferment of Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities was highly regarded as an important mechanism towards achieving Child Friendly Philippines:  A Caring and Protective Society for and by Children.

Winning in the Presidential Award for the Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities is one of the highest achievements of Local Government Units (LGU) for children’s rights. This Presidential Awards strongly recognizes that the key to the LGUs’ success is the COMMITMENT of all sectors including children in the community. Winning LGUs highlight their efforts in ensuring that children in their areas are enjoying their rights. They all affirm that behind the prestigious and the many recognitions that they receive, there are these government and private sectors behind. Presence of networks for children is an arm in ensuring that all children are protected from exploitation and abuse. These are some of the gifts which adults and children in the community can leave behind to the future adults in the country.

KUDOS to the 2012 outstanding child friendly municipalities and cities and a CALL to other LGUs to aim for more recognitions in “Establishing the Presidential Award for the Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities” .
