“Child Labor is Not Child’s Play” – DOLE-Bicol’s ‘cry’ on Children’s Month
Legazpi City- Battling the longest running social menace – child labor – is not, in any sense, child’s play. This was stressed by DOLE-Bicol as it lay down its plans this October for the 2011 Children’s Month Celebration with the theme “Local Council for the Protection of Children Para sa Bright Child: Pakilusin, Palakasin, Pagtulungan Natin”.
CWC Spearheads 19th National Children's Month Celebration
By virtue of Presidential Decree (PD) 603 or the Child and Youth Welfare Code, the Council for the Welfare of Children has been spearheading the nationwide celebration of children’s month since 1993. For 2011, the 19th Nationwide Celebration of Children’s Month shall focus on strengthening the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC).
Consolidated Plan of Action for the 2011 Children’s Month Celebration
The Department of Labor and Employment joins the nation in the celebration of Children's Month this October. Among the activities lined up by DOLE regional and field offices, in coordination with their respective program partners, include Project Angel Tree or gift giving to child laborers, advocacy campaign on child rights and child protection, tree planting, and awarding of livelihood grants to parents of child laborers.
