Placing children at the center of development is the main goal of the Search for Child-Friendly Cities and Municipalities.
In its 9th year, the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), the focal government agency for child welfare policies, gives recognition to local governments for doing their role in promoting and protecting children’s rights to survival, development, protection, and participation.
The Council’s efforts to advocate and promote child-friendly governance was supported by Executive Order 184 which upgraded the search to Presidential Awards for Child Friendly Cities & Municipalities.
The Awards has three (3) categories: the highly urbanized and chartered cities; the 1st to 3rd class municipalities and component cities and 4th to 6th class municipalities.
Regional winners vie for the national awards to win the P300,000 cash prize and the Child Friendly Trophy.
The awarding ceremony for 2011 winners will be held at Malacañan Palace in October 27, 2011. His Excellency Benigno S. Aquino 111 will give the awards to the winners of the said Search.
